On April 6, 2025, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) conducted a collaborative mock drill at the Propane Plant-3 of the Oxygen Plant to simulate a propane gas fire scenario. The drill aimed to test the readiness and efficiency of RSP’s disaster management system and personnel, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
The event was attended by key officials, including Biswaranjan Palai, Executive Director (Works), Anita Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Rourkela Municipal Corporation, and Bibhu Prasad, Deputy Director (Factories & Boilers), along with senior representatives from RSP, CISF, NDRF, and ODRAF.
During the exercise, Palai emphasized the importance of extending such drills across other plant areas to enhance preparedness. Naik highlighted the critical role of coordination between different agencies to effectively manage emergency situations. This successful mock drill reinforced the commitment to continuous safety training and inter-agency collaboration for handling industrial emergencies.
