7th April 2025: Preparations for the world-famous Rath Yatra in Puri are in full swing, with authorities confirming the sourcing of 7,000 cubic feet of timber required for constructing the chariots. These chariots are an essential part of the procession, which carries the deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra through the streets of Puri.
The Rath Yatra, one of the largest religious events in Odisha, attracts millions of devotees and tourists annually. The timber will be used to craft the towering chariots, which are vital to the tradition and spirituality of the festival. The logs are sourced from different parts of the state, ensuring only the best quality timber is used for the chariot construction.
With the timber secured, the next phase of preparation involves skilled artisans working to build the chariots, following centuries-old craftsmanship traditions. As the festival approaches, Puri is gearing up for another grand celebration of faith and cultural heritage.
