17th May 2025: Odisha, a state rich in mineral resources, holds a leading position in India’s mining landscape. With more than 41.9% of the country’s total mineral reserves located in the state, Odisha plays a pivotal role in fueling the nation’s industrial growth.
For over 60 years, the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has been diligently engaged in the exploration and responsible extraction of these valuable resources. On the occasion of OMC’s 70th Foundation Day, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, attending as the chief guest, highlighted the corporation’s significant contribution to the economic prosperity of the state.

Marking the day with several developmental initiatives, the Chief Minister announced the reopening of the Dubuna and Badabil iron ore mines, as well as the commencement of mining operations at Tiring Pahad in the Badabil region. Additionally, he inaugurated the power supply to the Rengalbeda RR Colony, enhancing the quality of life for the local community.
Furthering its commitment to green energy, OMC also inaugurated a 900-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar power plant at its mining sites in the Koida region, showcasing a move towards sustainable and eco-friendly mining practices.
OMC’s growth, aligned with the principles of responsible development, continues to strengthen Odisha’s economy while setting an example of balancing resource utilization with environmental care.
