Odisha Hosts Conference on Mineral Resources in Konark

20th January 2025: A Ministerial Conference on Minerals was organized in Konark, Odisha, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighting the state’s rich mineral resources. He stated that Odisha, often referred to as a “treasure trove of minerals,” is abundant in valuable resources, not just in Kendujhar but across various regions of the state.

The two-day conference, held at the Konark Eco Retreat, brought together mining ministers from over 16 states. The event focused on promoting collaboration to ensure the responsible and eco-friendly extraction of minerals. The aim is to strengthen efforts for safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, along with Odisha’s State Mining Minister Dibyashankar Jena, participated in the event. Senior officials from the central government, as well as from Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, and Jharkhand, were also present. The conference seeks to enhance cooperation among different stakeholders to ensure the balanced development of the mining sector, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability.
