Bhubaneswar, July 30: The Housing & Urban Development Department has launched emergency measures to address waterlogging and flood-related issues following heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha.
The department has directed officials to remain on high alert and ensure immediate action to protect public safety. Urban Local Bodies are working to clear stagnant water from roads, residential areas, and public places by deploying additional manpower, machinery, and pump sets.
Drain cleaning and restoration work are being carried out to improve water flow and reduce waterlogging. Authorities are also ensuring essential services such as drinking water, food assistance, and other support for people affected by the situation.
A dedicated control room is monitoring developments and coordinating response efforts with district administrations and disaster management teams.
Along with immediate relief measures, the department is planning long-term improvements to urban drainage systems to help prevent future waterlogging challenges.
The Odisha government remains committed to ensuring timely assistance, public safety, and effective management of flood situations across the state.
