Dhenkanal,, Sept 9 [UDN}:A Grain ATM (Shasya ATM) has been inaugurated in Dhenkanal, providing beneficiaries with a convenient and technology-enabled way to collect their monthly foodgrain entitlement.
The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister inaugurated the Grain ATM.
The machine will provide rice to beneficiaries 24 hours a day, making access to subsidized foodgrains more convenient.
Beneficiaries can collect their allotted rice by authenticating themselves through fingerprint verification and entering their ration/card number.
After similar facilities were introduced in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal has now become the next district to receive a Grain ATM.
The initiative is aimed at making the public distribution system more transparent, accessible and technology-driven, while reducing dependence on fixed shop timings.
The minister indicated that similar Grain ATMs are expected to be established in every district in the coming days under the Annapurna scheme.
The initiative is expected to particularly benefit ration-card holders by allowing them to access their entitled rice even outside conventional fair-price-shop operating hours.
