Odisha’s Sagar Mala Project: Enhancing Maritime Infrastructure

1st April 2025: As part of the central government’s Sagar Mala project, Odisha is focusing on six major maritime projects with an investment of ₹350 crore. Key developments include a fishing harbour at Chandipur, which is being built with an investment of ₹50 crore, and new jetties at Balugaon and Krushnaprasad in Puri with a budget of ₹54 crore.

The expansion of the Paradip fishing harbour is also progressing with ₹4.49 crore already allocated out of the total ₹108.90 crore. Additionally, jetties at Kaninali and Talchua are under development with a budget of ₹110.06 crore, of which ₹25.15 crore has been released.

These projects will enhance transportation, support regional business growth, and promote coastal tourism, ultimately improving connectivity and reducing transportation costs in Odisha.
