Vedanta’s Contribution to Odisha’s Transformation into an Industrial Hub

1st April 2025: Vedanta Aluminium is playing a pivotal role in positioning Odisha as a key industrial powerhouse. Sunil Gupta, the CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Odisha’s future growth, backed by a new ₹100 crore investment. This reflects Vedanta’s strong belief in the state’s potential to lead India’s industrial revolution.

With its 18 lakh tonne smelter in Jharsuguda and a 3.5 million tonne alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, Vedanta has created over 10,000 jobs. The company’s contribution to Odisha’s GDP stands at 4%, underlining its significant role in the state’s economic development.

At the Odisha Excellence Conclave, Vedanta’s Anil Agarwal announced plans to establish a 3 million-tonne aluminium plant and an aluminium park in Jharsuguda. Beyond industrial growth, Vedanta is also enhancing sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and sports, contributing to Odisha’s overall development.

Vedanta’s continued investment is helping transform Odisha into a major industrial hub.
