Puri, June 10: Preparations for the grand Rath Yatra in Puri are in full swing, with 80% of the work already completed, said Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan. He assured that all remaining work will be finished before the festival begins.
Over 300 doctors will be deployed, with temporary ICUs and a burn unit already set up. Covid-19 concerns remain low, with only mild cases reported.
To ensure safety, every devotee attending the festival will be covered under a ₹5 lakh insurance plan. More than 365 special trains and 250 extra buses will be arranged to handle the large crowd, expected to be around 15 lakh.
Authorities are also installing 250 AI-powered CCTV cameras, water sprinklers for heat relief, and lifeguards along the beach. Chariot construction is progressing as planned.
The Odisha government is taking every step to ensure a safe, smooth, and successful Rath Yatra this year.
