Bhubaneswar, July 21 (UDN): Rainfall activity continued across several parts of Odisha over the past 24 hours, with multiple districts witnessing heavy showers. Puri district recorded the highest rainfall during the period, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD reported that Kakatpur in Puri district received 108 mm of rainfall, marking the highest precipitation recorded in the state. Other areas that witnessed substantial rainfall included Deogaon in Jharsuguda (100 mm), Banaigarh in Sundargarh (97 mm), and Kutra in Sundargarh (95 mm).
Several other locations also experienced significant showers, including Akhuapada in Bhadrak, which received 78.8 mm rainfall, and Jamankira in Sambalpur, which recorded 73.4 mm. Rainfall was also reported from parts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, and other districts.
The state recorded an average rainfall of 19.5 mm in the last 24 hours, compared to the normal average of 16.6 mm, indicating rainfall above the expected level during the period.
While coastal and northern Odisha received widespread rainfall, some interior districts, including Boudh, Kandhamal, and Gajapati, recorded relatively lower precipitation.
The IMD continues to monitor the evolving weather pattern and has advised people to remain alert and follow official weather updates. Authorities are keeping a close watch on districts that may experience heavy rainfall and related challenges.
The ongoing rainfall has brought changes in weather conditions across Odisha, with further updates expected as the weather system develops.
