Ravenshaw University Student Politics: ABVP Submits Memorandum Seeking Immediate Resumption of Student Union Elections, Not Held for Nearly a Decade

Cuttack: Aug 17 [UDN}:Student Union elections have not been held at Ravenshaw University since 2017, leading to renewed demands from student organisations for the restoration of the democratic process on campus. Raising the issue, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) submitted a memorandum to the university authorities, urging them to take immediate steps to conduct the student union elections.
The ABVP representatives highlighted that student elections play an important role in ensuring student participation in university administration and providing students with a platform to raise their concerns and demands. They expressed concern over the prolonged absence of elections and urged the authorities to restore the system at the earliest.
According to the organisation, students have been deprived of the opportunity to elect their representatives democratically for several years. The ABVP called upon the university administration to announce a clear roadmap and schedule for conducting the elections and to ensure that the process is carried out in a fair and transparent manner.
The submission of the memorandum has once again brought the issue of student union elections at Ravenshaw University into focus. The organisation maintained that elected student representatives can serve as an important link between the student community and the university administration, helping to address academic, infrastructural, cultural and other student-related issues.
The ABVP further urged the university authorities to consider the concerns of the student community seriously and initiate necessary measures to revive the election process. The organisation said that conducting student union elections would strengthen student participation and democratic practices within the university.
The demand comes amid growing discussions among students regarding the restoration of campus elections, which have remained suspended since 2017. The ABVP has sought an early decision from the university authorities in the interest of students and the overall academic environment of Ravenshaw University.
