Rivers Swell, Flood Threat Returns: Baitarani, Jalaka and Subarnarekha Reach Danger Levels, Raising Concern Across Several Areas

Balasore,Sept 4 [UDN}: Balasore district is once again facing the threat of flooding as the water levels of the Baitarani, Jalaka and Subarnarekha rivers have reached the danger mark. The rising water levels have triggered fresh concerns among residents and the administration, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas situated along the riverbanks.

This is the sixth time this year that a flood-like situation has developed in the Baitarani River. The repeated rise in the river’s water level has raised serious concerns about the possibility of inundation in several areas, with people living in vulnerable regions remaining alert to the changing situation.

The administration is closely monitoring the water levels of the rivers, while residents in potentially affected areas are being urged to remain cautious. If the water levels continue to rise due to further rainfall or increased inflow from upstream areas, several villages and low-lying regions could face the risk of flooding.

The recurring flood situation in the Baitarani this year has once again highlighted the vulnerability of the region to heavy rainfall and rising river levels. With the Baitarani, Jalaka and Subarnarekha rivers touching the danger level, the possibility of another flood has created an atmosphere of concern across the affected areas.
