SAI International to Host 18th National Chess Championship for Visually Challenged

Bhubaneswar, April 2: SAI International Education Group is gearing up to host the 18th National Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged, an event organized by the All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) and the Odisha Chess Association for the Visually Challenged (OCAVC). The championship will be held at SAI International Residential School in Cuttack from April 2 to April 6.

The tournament will see the participation of 54 players, including 52 men and 2 women, representing 15 states and Union Territories. Maharashtra will have the largest representation, with 11 players, while Odisha will field four competitors: Soundarya Kumar Pradhan, Subhendu Kumar Patra, Prachurya Kumar Pradhan, and Deepak Kumar Bhoi.

Following a 9-round individual format, the championship aims to provide a competitive platform for visually impaired chess players to demonstrate their skills. The event is set to celebrate their achievements and promote inclusivity within the sport.
