Koraput, June 12: A district-level training and awareness workshop on the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 was successfully organized under the State-Level Child Labour Eradication Campaign, chaired by the Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The workshop aimed to create greater awareness about the legal provisions related to the prohibition and regulation of child and adolescent labour, while also strengthening coordination among various departments and stakeholders involved in child protection. Officials, representatives from different government departments, child welfare organizations, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders participated in the programme.
During the workshop, detailed discussions were held on the implementation of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, measures for the prevention of child labour, rehabilitation of rescued children, and the importance of ensuring education and protection for every child. Emphasis was also laid on creating awareness at the grassroots level and enhancing community participation to eliminate child labour from society.
The Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights highlighted the need for collective efforts from government agencies, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and the public to safeguard the rights and future of children. She stressed that every child deserves a safe childhood, proper education, and opportunities for overall development, and called upon all concerned to work together towards building a child labour-free society.
