Traffic Severely Affected After Strong Kalbaisakhi Winds Uproot Tree, Obstructing Key Roadway

Jharigaon June 12:: Due to Kalbaisakhi rain and strong winds, a large tree was uprooted and fell near the Bakada Beda bus stand in Bakada Beda village under Jharigaon block of Nabarangpur district at around 2:30 PM today. As a result, traffic on the Dabugaon–Umarkote main road was disrupted for some time.
Vehicles traveling on the road were stranded during the incident, causing inconvenience to passengers.

According to local residents, road expansion work from Dabugaon to Umarkote has been underway for some time. They alleged that despite repeatedly informing the contractor about the dangerous trees standing along both sides of the road, no action had been taken.

As a result, the strong winds today uprooted one of the trees, which fell onto the road. In another incident, an electric pole collapsed onto a hotel, damaging its asbestos roof.
Local residents said the danger could have been identified in time and preventive measures should have been taken. They have demanded intervention from the administration and the concerned departments to prevent such incidents in the future by removing hazardous trees during road construction work.
After receiving information about the incident, the Umarkote Fire Service reached the spot and cleared the fallen tree from the road.
No loss of life has been reported in the incident.
