Bhubaneswar, July 30 UDN}: To further strengthen Odisha’s agricultural sector and rural economy, the state government is placing greater emphasis on promoting entrepreneurship in fisheries and animal husbandry, as well as encouraging commercial agricultural projects. Under the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY), the period for availing subsidies by beneficiaries has been extended by another five years. For this purpose, the State Cabinet has approved an estimated expenditure of ₹2,496.40 crore.
Under the scheme, financial assistance is being provided to entrepreneurs to establish new businesses in the fisheries and animal husbandry sectors. Over the next five years, the government aims to establish approximately 8,500 commercial agricultural projects across all 30 districts of Odisha.
The initiative is expected to play a significant role in shaping the youth of the state into successful agri-entrepreneurs, creating sustainable employment opportunities in rural areas, and increasing the income of farmers. By promoting investment and entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors, the scheme is envisioned as an important driver of rural economic growth and a catalyst for strengthening the livelihoods of farming communities across Odisha.
