Bhubaneswar, Oct 27 [UDN}: Suram Padhy attended the inaugural session of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum 2026, held at the historic Samvidhan Sadan under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla.
The forum, themed “Fostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development,” will deliberate on strengthening parliamentary institutions to promote people-oriented development, reinforce democratic values, and enhance the role of legislatures in ensuring public welfare. The discussions aim to highlight how parliaments can become more effective, accountable, and responsive to citizens’ needs while contributing to inclusive and sustainable development.
The inaugural session was also attended by Hon’ble Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, along with Speakers of Legislative Assemblies and Chairpersons of Legislative Councils from various states. The participation of parliamentary and legislative leaders underscored the importance of cooperation among democratic institutions in advancing good governance and people-centric policies.
