Umerkote, June 17: The talent identification process has commenced at the Summer Weightlifting Camp being conducted at the Umerkote Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium under the aegis of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of the Odisha Government.
The camp is being successfully managed under the supervision of Stadium In-Charge Ashok Kumar Sahu and the guidance of M. Vijay Kumar, Managing Director of the Multi-Purpose Sports Academy, with support from coach Nakul Santa.
To identify the most promising talents among the emerging weightlifters undergoing training at the camp, two state-level assistant coaches from the Weightlifting Department of Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar—Laxman Chetti and Yajna Narayan Nanda—have arrived to conduct the selection process.
A large number of young athletes are participating in the camp and learning various weightlifting techniques. The visiting coaches are carefully evaluating the participants’ physical fitness, sporting skills, and level of interest in the discipline.
The coaches expressed their happiness at witnessing the enthusiastic participation of so many young talents from Umerkote. They also praised the stadium officials and trainers for their efficient management and successful conduct of the camp.
