Union Minister Reviews Urban Development in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 24: Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manoj Lal Khattar, conducted a review of urban development projects in Odisha. The focus was on boosting the growth of cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Khordha.

Khattar emphasized the need for improved infrastructure, industrial expansion, and public-private partnerships to drive sustainable urbanization. He also highlighted plans for developing a new city within Bhubaneswar and supported the proposed metro project.

The Minister approved the deployment of 400 electric buses in Odisha and praised the state’s progress under the AMRUT scheme, especially in water supply. He urged continued efforts to clean urban slums and improve waste management under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.

Discussions also included the construction of 50,000 homes under the PMAY-Urban scheme to further support Odisha’s urban growth.
