Kotpad, June 20: {UDN}:: A BJP-organized Intellectuals’ Conference was held at the local Kalyan Mandap in Kotpad. Hundreds of intellectuals from Kotpad town and nearby areas participated in the event. During the conference, information was shared regarding the achievements of the government, the completion of 12 years of the Prime Minister’s tenure, and the completion of two years of the Odisha Government.
The event was moderated by MP representative Chandrasekhar Das. Member of Parliament Balabhadra Majhi and MLA Rupu Bhatra attended the programme and highlighted the achievements of various schemes implemented by both the Central and State Governments. They also spoke about the vision and plans of both governments for building a Developed India (Viksit Bharat) and a Developed Odisha (Viksit Odisha).
The leaders invited suggestions from the participating intellectuals regarding additional schemes and initiatives that the government should undertake in the future.
Representing the intellectual community, senior advocate and Press Club President Pankaj Kumar Patra, along with Pradeep Bakshi, Kishore Chandra Mishra, Ajay Mishra, Seetanath Biswal, Godabarish Acharya, and Bimal Shatrushalya, presented various local demands and developmental issues before the MP and the MLA.
On behalf of the Press Club, senior advocate Pankaj Kumar Patra put forward several key demands, including:
Complete prohibition of liquor trade in Odisha and making the state liquor-free.
Enactment of security laws and pension benefits for advocates and journalists.
Upgradation of the Kotpad Community Health Centre to a Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Extension of the newly introduced Koraput–Puri train service up to Jagdalpur.
The proposals and demands were formally submitted to the MP and MLA. In response, both leaders assured the gathering that these suggestions and demands would be placed before the concerned departmental ministers and that necessary steps would be taken to address them.
Among others, Sunil Tripathy, Binayak Acharya, and Gaurang Nayak, along with several party workers and office-bearers, assisted in organizing and conducting the programme successfully.
