Nabarangpur July 10 [UDN}: In view of the recent fire incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and in accordance with the directions of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), a district-level fire safety meeting was held today in Nabarangpur district under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bishwajit Chandra Barman at the Ashok Mehta Conference Hall of the District Collectorate.
To ensure strict compliance with fire safety regulations, a district-level monitoring, enforcement, and joint inspection team has been constituted. According to Office Order No. 10333 dated 02.07.2026 issued by the Emergency Department of the District Collector’s Office, the team comprises 12 senior officials, including the Sub-Collector, District Emergency Officer, District Project Officer (Emergency), District Fire Officer, District Education Officer, Superintending Engineer of the Roads and Buildings Department, and representatives from TPSODL.
During the meeting, the district administration urged all educational institutions and commercial establishments to strictly adhere to fire safety guidelines and extend full cooperation to the administration. It was emphasized that the safety of students, teachers, and the general public remains the highest priority of the district administration.
The team will inspect all schools, colleges, coaching centres, hostels, skill development centres, training institutes, restaurants, shopping malls, cinema halls, and multi-storey commercial establishments across the district. The inspections will be conducted based on a 16-point checklist covering various aspects of fire safety preparedness.
The inspection will include verification of the validity of Fire Safety Certificates (NOC), availability and condition of fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, smoke detectors, emergency lighting arrangements, evacuation routes, safe staircases, electrical safety measures, regular maintenance practices, and fire safety audits.
The Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) directed that all inspection activities be completed within seven days and that the findings be submitted to the District Collector of Nabarangpur. A consolidated report detailing the number of institutions inspected, deficiencies identified, and corrective measures undertaken will also be submitted.
Mr. Barman stated that after receiving complete information from the joint inspection team, the consolidated inspection report would be forwarded to the State Government.
