Milk prices have risen in the state, with OMFED milk becoming costlier by rs 4 per litre. The government claims that this increase will benefit farmers, but it has added an extra burden on consumers. The cost of tea is almost certain to rise. Similarly, there are concerns that the prices of paneer, curd, and ghee may also increase in the coming days.
The BJD has stated that the price hike will mainly impact the poor and disrupt household budgets. At the same time, the Odisha Milk Farmers’ Association has demanded that ₹2 per litre from the increased price should go directly to the farmers.
