Baripada: Oct 5 [UDN}:A crucial review meeting was held at the Mayurbhanj District Collector’s office to discuss the safety and educational infrastructure of MPC Junior College, with Baripada MLA Prakash Soren participating along with the Mayurbhanj Collector, Additional Collector, District Education Officer, District Information and Public Relations Officer, PWD Superintending Engineer, Baripada Tahasildar and heads of MPC Autonomous College, MPC Junior College, Utkalamani Gopabandhu B.Ed. College and ITI.
During the meeting, directions were issued for the immediate shifting of MPC Junior College, which is currently functioning from the Mayurbhanj Palace in a reportedly unsafe condition. The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff while preventing disruption to academic activities.
As a temporary arrangement until the new college building is constructed, alternative classrooms will be provided at three institutions. Students of the Arts stream will attend classes at MPC Autonomous College at Takhatpur, those of the Science stream will be accommodated at Utkalamani Gopabandhu College, while ITI will facilitate classroom arrangements for students of the Commerce stream.
Instructions were issued to ensure that all necessary infrastructure is made available at the temporary locations, including furniture, electricity connections and other essential facilities, so that regular teaching and learning can continue without interruption.
It was further informed that ₹38.42 crore has already been sanctioned in the first phase for construction of a new building for MPC Junior College. The shifting of the institution to safer temporary premises is therefore expected to provide an interim solution until the permanent campus infrastructure is completed.
