Jharsuguda: Oct 8 [UDN}:A government child care institution, ‘Utkal Balashram,’ was inaugurated near Bombay Chowk in Jharsuguda town to provide care, protection, rehabilitation and support to children in need.
Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the institution by cutting the ribbon and performing the traditional coconut-breaking ceremony. Jharsuguda Collector Kunal Motiram Chavhan was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the inauguration, MLA Tankadhar Tripathy said he felt extremely happy and proud to be associated with the inauguration of Utkal Balashram. He said the institution would be an important step towards ensuring the safety, care, education and overall development of children.
He emphasized that every child in society deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe and secure environment and build a bright future. He expressed hope that Utkal Balashram would become a new home of affection, protection and hope for children in need and conveyed his best wishes for the institution.
Several senior officials and representatives attended the programme, including Nawal Agrawal, representative of the concerned minister; Shlok Sarana, representative of the MP; Additional Collector (General) Brajabandhu Bhoi; Additional Collector (Revenue) Subodh Chandra Acharya; the Sub-Collector; Zilla Parishad Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer Bishwaranjan Nayak; Additional Superintendent of Police James Samat; Tehsildar Sadakar Kumbhar; Deputy Collector Amruta…; District Social Welfare Officer Pushpalata Nayak; District Child Protection Officer Sunanda Maharana; and CDPO Salma Tudu, among others.
The Chairperson and members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Child Helpline personnel and inmates of Thakkar Bapa Seva Sadan also participated in the programme and extended their cooperation.
The guests said that the newly inaugurated Balashram would play an important role in the rehabilitation, protection, care and welfare of orphaned, homeless and other children requiring care and support.
