Cuttack, April 21: The elections of the Nabarangpur Bar Association, Jatni Lawyers’ Association, and Sundargarh District Bar Association will be held on the upcoming 23rd (May 23). The Odisha State Bar Council has decided to conduct the elections of these three bar associations, which had earlier been postponed, in a proper and systematic manner. The Chairman of the Council, Sitanshu Mohan Dwivedi, informed this through a press release on Friday.
According to the information, based on the “One Bar One Vote” policy implemented since 2019, elections for all affiliated bar associations in the state were conducted on March 28 this year under the direct supervision and control of the Odisha State Bar Council. However, due to certain irregularities related to the election process, the elections of the Nabarangpur Bar Association, Jatni Lawyers’ Association, and Sundargarh District Bar Association were postponed.
Now, as per the Council’s decision, the concerned bar associations have been instructed to conduct the elections. Their presidents and secretaries have been asked to immediately convene general meetings and appoint election officers. They must also inform the Odisha State Bar Council about the same before April 27. After that, the further election schedule will be announced, as stated by Chairman Dwivedi
