Belguntha, 21st Aug 2025 Dr. Damodar Sahu, a non-resident Odia originally from Gopinath Sahi, Belguntha, and now settled in the USA, had initiated the Mulia Memorial Scholarship to support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds in his motherland.
Today, 26 students from various high schools were awarded scholarships of ₹5,000 each. The event was organized at Natenga Dinabandhu Vidyapitha under the chairmanship of the school’s Principal, Manoj Ghadei. Sorada MLA Nilamani Bisoyi attended as the Chief Guest, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp, and remarked that “Education is the key to success.” He further stated that the Mulia Memorial Scholarship Programme is a milestone for the educational development of Belguntha and Ganjam district.
Other distinguished speakers included retired Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Bijay Kumar Panda (Keynote Speaker), youth leader Jitendra Kumar Nayak, Press Club President Pradyumna Patra, Belguntha NAC Councillor Dibya Ranjan Dash, former Natenga Sarpanch Prahlad Lenka, and Samiti Member Bibhupada Jena.
On the dais were also present the chief advisor of Mulia Memorial Core Committee and educationist Chandra Bhanu Padhi, High Court lawyer Om Prakash Sahu, Vice President of Belguntha Press Club Prabhat Kumar Sahu, and Editor Ashwini Kumar Mohanty.
The welcome address and introduction of guests were given by Surendra Kumar Sahu, Principal of Gangpur Sarat Chandra Panda Memorial High School.
Dr. Damodar Sahu, joining virtually via video conference from abroad, interacted with the students and parents, and shared his own nostalgic and emotional experiences of student life, inspiring all present.
