1st April 2025: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) successfully restored normal train operations on the Cuttack-Nergundi rail section by Monday morning after a derailment disrupted services. The incident occurred on Sunday when eleven bogies of the Bangalore-Guwahati AC SF Express derailed between Kendrapara Road and Nergundi stations. The mishap resulted in one death and three injuries.

ECoR personnel worked tirelessly overnight to clear the tracks, with General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal overseeing the restoration efforts. By 7:15 am on Monday, the tracks were cleared, and overhead equipment was restored by 7:40 am. Trains resumed at a reduced speed, with full operations gradually resuming as conditions improved. The railway diverted several trains to alternative routes to minimize passenger disruptions.
