Government Employees Await Big Salary Revision as 8th Pay Commission Report to Be Submitted by May 3, 2027

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 22 [UDN}:There is widespread discussion across the country regarding the 8th Pay Commission, with central government employees and pensioners eagerly awaiting the implementation of its recommendations.
The issue was also raised in Parliament today. In the Rajya Sabha, MP Neeraj Shekhar asked Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary whether the 8th Pay Commission would submit its recommendations before the stipulated deadline. He also sought details about the stakeholders the Commission has met so far and those it plans to consult in the future.
When the government announced the 8th Pay Commission in November 2025, it was given 18 months to submit its report. The Minister of State for Finance had earlier stated that the Commission’s report would be submitted by May 3, 2027.
However, the Commission may submit its report earlier if it completes its work ahead of schedule. The government has made it clear that the decision to submit the report before the 18-month deadline rests with the Commission and that it will not exert pressure on it.
The Minister also provided Parliament with information regarding the number of central government employees and pensioners who are expected to be covered by the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission.
