Malkangiri:May 02: Noted mountaineer and social worker Samira Khan visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Malkangiri district today, where she interacted with students and raised awareness on cervical cancer prevention through HPV vaccination.
During her visit, she encouraged girl students to get vaccinated against HPV (Human Papillomavirus) as a protective measure against cervical cancer. She also highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment and education for building a healthier society.
Later, speaking at a meeting held in the District Council Conference Hall, she referred to ASHA and Anganwadi workers as “true health warriors” and appreciated their contribution to community health services.
She urged everyone to spread awareness about preventive healthcare and ensure that adolescent girls receive the HPV vaccine as a protective shield against life-threatening diseases.
The programme concluded with a call for collective awareness and action to safeguard the health and future of young girls in the region.
