India’s 56th Tiger Reserve Established in Chhattisgarh

19th November 2024: India has officially added its 56th Tiger Reserve with the notification of the Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh. Spanning an area of 2,829 square kilometers, the new reserve is located in the Ramkola region of the state.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, announced the milestone on social media, highlighting India’s ongoing commitment to tiger conservation. This new reserve is expected to play a significant role in safeguarding tiger populations, protecting biodiversity, and supporting local conservation efforts.
With this addition, India continues to strengthen its network of protected areas for tigers, contributing to the global effort to ensure the survival of these majestic animals in the wild.
