Kotpad:July 20 [UDN}: The 77th Van Mahotsav (Forest Festival) was observed today at the United Sporting Club Ground in Kotpad through a joint initiative of Kotpad LAMPS and the United Sporting Club. The programme was led by United Sporting Club President and MP’s Representative Rameshwar Jena, along with members including Balya Nayak, Dipu, Kishore Bishoi, Rajendra Nayak (LAMPS), Sudesh Pattnaik, Santosh Das, and other LAMPS employees and club members.
During the programme, participants planted saplings using potash, fertilizers, and other nutrients to ensure healthy growth and better soil fertility. The plantation drive was carried out under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name).
Kotpad Range Officer Gobinda Chandra Nayak, Forester Sudam Satpathy, and other forest department staff also took part in the event. More than 200 saplings were planted during the drive.
Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Sangh, including Venkata Rao, Bulu Bhai, and others, actively participated in the plantation campaign. Teachers and students of Nuaguda Primary School, along with local women, also joined the initiative by planting saplings around the playground.
The speakers emphasized that tree plantation is essential for maintaining a green environment, improving oxygen levels, and protecting nature. They appealed to everyone to actively participate in plantation drives for a cleaner and healthier future.
