Bhubaneswar:Sept 21 [UDN}: Preparations have begun in Odisha for the 2027 Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections, with the State Election Commission initiating the process of updating and preparing electoral rolls across the state. A statewide door-to-door voter survey will be conducted from October 26 to November 7, 2026.
A state-level training programme for Master Trainers will be held on September 23 at the ground floor of the State Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar. The trained personnel will subsequently assist in conducting the voter-list verification exercise at the district and local levels.
During the house-to-house survey, officials will verify existing voter details, identify eligible new voters and correct discrepancies in the electoral rolls. The exercise is intended to ensure that the voter lists for Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies are updated and accurate ahead of the 2027 elections.
The cut-off date for inclusion of new voters is January 1, 2027. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be generated on January 1, while the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on February 10, 2027.
The State Election Commission has directed the concerned authorities to extend necessary cooperation to survey teams and complete the entire process within the prescribed schedule. The exercise is also aimed at addressing discrepancies such as voters being assigned to different polling booths and errors in household details.
