NabarangpurSept 19 [UDN}: Odisha’s Commerce, Transport, Steel and Mines Minister and Nabarangpur district in-charge Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena undertook a day-long visit to Nabarangpur on Friday and reviewed preparations for the upcoming ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–2026’ at a meeting held in the District Parishad conference hall.
The campaign, scheduled to be observed across Odisha from September 17 to October 17, 2026, aims to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service, dedication and contribution to nation-building. During the review meeting, Minister Jena took stock of the preparations being undertaken by the district administration for various programmes planned under the month-long campaign.
The minister directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination and ensure the successful implementation of the campaign. He particularly stressed the need to ensure active participation of people from every section of society, making the programme broad-based and people-centric.
One of the major highlights will be the ‘Ashirbadara Deepa’ programme on the evening of September 17. At 7 pm, every family in the district will be encouraged to light one traditional earthen lamp. Around one crore clay lamps are proposed to be prepared and distributed with the cooperation of women’s self-help groups, traditional potters and local artisans.
From September 18 to 24, schools and educational institutions will organise drawing and speech competitions on themes such as ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘25 Years of Service’. The initiative is intended to encourage students and young people to engage with the themes of development, public service and nation-building.
From September 20 to 30, musical and theatrical performances will be organised at schools, colleges, panchayats, community centres and other public places. These programmes will highlight major welfare initiatives and achievements associated with 25 years of public service.
Another major component will be ‘Angan Ka Utsav’, scheduled from September 26 to October 7 at Anganwadi centres. Awareness activities will focus on nutrition, health and women-oriented government schemes. Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, helpers and beneficiary mothers will also be felicitated during the programme.
From September 17 to October 17, the administration will collect real-life stories, photographs and videos documenting positive changes in citizens’ lives through government welfare schemes. These will be compiled into a digital data bank and promoted on social media as stories of transformation.
Digital content creators and social media influencers from Nabarangpur district will also be involved in the campaign. They will be taken on visits to major development projects and locations that have witnessed significant transformation, with active participation from the youth.
On October 7, ‘Seva Jyoti’ marches will be organised at district and village levels through padyatras or bike rallies. Subsequently, large-scale ‘Bharat Mandala’ rangolis made using natural materials will be created at selected urban locations.
The campaign will also promote innovation by showcasing promising local innovators and startups through exhibitions, live demonstrations and youth interactions. At the block level, ‘Seva Setu’ camps will be organised to provide citizens with information about various state and central government welfare schemes under one roof. Eligible beneficiaries will also receive assistance in applying for and accessing the schemes.
Citizens will further be encouraged to participate in at least one of 25 major service-oriented activities, including blood donation camps, plantation drives, health check-ups and plastic-free awareness programmes.
The review meeting was attended by Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Nabarangpur MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Gouri Shankar Majhi, Collector Dr Maheswar Swain, Additional District Magistrate Pramod Kumar Pusti, and District Parishad Chief Development Officer B.N. Darwan, among other senior officials.
The minister and other dignitaries called upon all departments and district-level officials to ensure maximum public participation, effective inter-departmental coordination and extensive publicity. They emphasised that the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–2026 should be transformed into a successful, inclusive and citizen-centric service campaign across Nabarangpur district.
