Bhubaneswar, March 28: The newly built 26.888 km rail line between Boudh and Purunakatak, part of the Khurda Road-Bolangir rail project, has been successfully inspected for safety. Commissioner of Railway Safety, Brijesh Mishra, conducted the review on March 25-26, checking the track, signaling, and bridges, and gave the green light for the section’s commissioning.
This project, covering 301 km, aims to improve connectivity in Odisha’s rural areas. Of the total length, 240 km is now operational. The inspection marks a big step forward, with more progress expected soon. Infrastructure on the Purunakatak-Champapur stretch includes several important bridges, all designed to ensure smooth and safe rail operations.
Work is also underway on the remaining 62 km stretch, which includes tunnel construction through challenging terrain. Once complete, this rail line will improve transportation and boost economic development across the state.
