Rourkela, March 28: A team from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has successfully completed the pre-feasibility study for upgrading Rourkela Airport. The team, which visited the airport site and surrounding areas like Sector-13 and the OMFED plant, assessed the potential for expanding the facility to accommodate 4C CAT 1 IFR operations.

Bimal Bisi, president of Sachetan Nagarika Mancha (SNM), a group advocating for airport development, shared that discussions were held with AAI officials in Delhi. Work on the upgrade will commence once AAI receives both the pre-feasibility and obstacle limitation surface (OLS) survey reports, along with the required land from the state government.

The AAI team, consisting of experts from various departments, evaluated the site’s readiness for modernization, marking a significant step in the airport’s development.
