Puri, June 19, 2025: Preparations for the grand Rath Yatra in Puri have reached their final stage. After 49 days of continuous work, the construction of the three majestic chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra is almost complete.

Today, work on the Bedi – the sacred wooden platform where the deities will be seated – has officially begun. More than 200 carpenters and 36 painters are actively engaged in completing the chariots, focusing on painting, carving, and adding decorations.

The beautifully carved figures of lions, elephants, and other traditional symbols are being finalized. Painting work is also progressing on various parts of the chariots, including the top domes, side panels, and other decorative areas.

Special servitors known as Maharana and Bhois are working hard to complete the platform construction and attach important wooden components. Tailors and decorators are also preparing traditional cloth pieces and lace work to be used on the chariots.

All efforts are being made to ensure that the chariots are fully ready in time for the Rath Yatra, which draws millions of devotees from across the country and the world. The final touches reflect the dedication and craftsmanship that make this festival so unique and spiritually significant.
