5th July 2025: In a strategic move to strengthen its global presence, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)—India’s largest steel producer with an annual crude steel capacity exceeding 20 million tonnes—has inaugurated its representative office in Dubai.
The office was officially inaugurated by Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, who highlighted that this initiative will enhance SAIL’s export capabilities, foster stronger industry partnerships, and deepen India-UAE trade relations.
Dubai, recognized as a gateway to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, offers a favorable investment climate. This makes it an ideal base for expanding into emerging markets and scaling up international trade operations.
Minister Kumaraswamy noted that this step aligns with India’s national target of achieving 300 million tonnes of steel production by 2030, and positions SAIL as a competitive global player in the steel sector.
The event also saw the presence of key dignitaries, including India’s Consul General in Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan, SAIL CMD Amarendu Prakash, NMDC CMD Amitava Mukherjee, and senior officials from the Ministry of Steel.
This expansion marks a significant milestone in SAIL’s journey toward becoming a globally integrated steel producer.
