Odisha Observes National Dengue Day with Focus on Prevention

Bhubaneswar, May 17: On the occasion of National Dengue Day, Odisha launched a state-wide awareness campaign to prevent the spread of dengue. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged citizens to clear stagnant water and maintain hygiene to protect families and build a healthier Odisha.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling emphasized the importance of early treatment and community awareness. The Health and Family Welfare Department held a programme at the Combined Health Directorate to promote dengue control under the NVBDCP.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar also marked the day with public awareness activities, distributing informative pamphlets and educating patients about prevention. Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas stressed the need to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, especially during monsoon.

Meanwhile, BMC launched a citywide action plan, involving fogging, school campaigns, and door-to-door checks by volunteers to curb mosquito breeding.

With rising dengue cases nationwide, Odisha’s coordinated effort highlights the importance of prevention, cleanliness, and community participation.
